Dylan Farrow Wonders Why Her Father, Woody Allen, Is Not Thrown Under The Bus Like Harvey Weinstein

Director and producer Woddy Allen

Woody Allen allegedly molested his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was 7 years old.

Woody Allen’s daughter, Dylan Farrow, thinks that the director is as guilty as Weinstein when it comes to sexual assault. She pointed to other powerful media personalities who have suffered a backlash in the wake of these allegations, a prime example being Harvey Weinstein.

“Why is it that Harvey Weinstein and other accused celebrities have been cast out by Hollywood, while Allen recently secured a multimillion-dollar distribution deal with Amazon…? Farrow wrote in her op-ed on Thursday.

Allen’s daughter called out stars including Kate Winslet, Blake Lively, and Greta Gerwig for remaining silent when Farrow accused her father of molesting her as a child. The actresses worked with Allen amid these accusations.

Farrow backed up her accusations citing numerous allegations made by the actresses against Hollywood mogul, Harvey Weinstein. The producer has been accused of sexual assault and sexual harassment by more than 80 women. She noted that all three actresses have not condemned Allen over her allegations. Farrow said that, in light of the shifting culture in Hollywood, her allegations are still “too complicated” for these actresses to process.

Following Weinstein’s disgraceful exit from the movie industry, numerous women took to social media and shared their own stories of sexual harassment and sexual assault.

Woody Allen has been heavily criticized by Hollywood and Americans as a whole, of his support for Weinstein amid all the allegations although the director was not condemned for any sexual misconducts.

Farrow claims that, when she was 7 years old, Allen took her into an attic and sexually assaulted her. According to her op-ed, she has been telling the story for twenty years without any notable reaction. Farrow was adopted by actress Mia Farrow in 1985 and then later by Allen in 1991.

Woody Allen has denied Farrow’s allegations, even publishing a piece in the New York Times, where he cites a report made by the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic of the Yale-New Haven Hospital. According to them, Dylan did not present any signs of sexual abuse. The findings were later contested in 1993 during Allen’s custody trial with Mia Farrow. There, child psychiatrist, Dr. Stephen Herman, called the report “seriously flawed”.

While the director did not comment directly on Farrow’s recent op-ed, his representative Leslee Dart reiterated the statements of law enforcement officials and child welfare investigators who looked at the case.

“The investigators concluded unambiguously that Dylan Farrow was not sexually abused.” States Dart.
